The Castle: Part 1

I won't tell you where, because it's sort of private to the grounds keeper, but I've been to visit a castle...
N and the guys (N works for my father's company Clemco Construction & Restoration, Inc.) were out in the woods of the castle yesterday, fixing the roof of the pump house which had caved from a tree fall. It was a gorgeous sunny day so I went to visit, and snapped a few photos...

The above were all taken in and around the little pump-house, including this shot of an awesome Arvin heater that, if it hadn't been so completely rusted through, would have come home with me in a heartbeat (These little heaters are so cute, this one used to be teal blue! And quite the looker in its day)
If you climb several yards up an embankment and through the trees, you stand upon the long twisting gravel drive that leads you through an underpass under this gorgeous stone bridge...
Look at the stone work and the gorgeous detail on the vaulted ceiling of the underpass. As you come out on the other side, and round the bend...
There she stands...The Castle.
I have deep love for all things old, in addition to my love of vintage and antiques, I love old architecture and buildings, and the stories they tell. Something sparks deep down in me when I visit places like this...that are a bit neglected or have been left by the wayside...I know this must be in my genes..from my dad, who has devoted his life to restoring places and things to their original glory...

Want to see more? Check back this weekend for Part 2! A more detailed look into the castle itself:)

Happy Friday!!
