Slim Pickins

We braved the crowds this weekend and headed up to the orchard to pick some apples. I couldn't believe the number of people that were there, and I'm glad we went when we did because we had to walk deep into the rows of trees to find spots that hadn't been picked clean!
All in all it was a lovely afternoon, our niece brought her sweet little friend, and it was
nice to be surrounded by giggles and smiles.

Of course the best part is always fresh donuts at the end of the day, and a heaping bowl of apples on the kitchen table. I made an apple crisp pie when we got home but the sun had gone down, therefor no photos. Maybe I'll make it again though because, it's my Aunt's prize winning recipe, and it was pretty darn good.

What did you do this weekend?

  1. Great pictures....Ugh I'm so upset I couldn't go yesterday with all this rain. There is always next year, lol. I'm glad you had a good time and a beautiful day.

  2. You still picked up a nice haul! That happened to us last year. We waited until one of the final weekends to head to the orchards and lots of trees were nearly bare!

This weekend I actually made a few apple-filled recipes with the apples I picked last week! We baked into the night, but I'm hoping I'll have one or two salvageable pictures to share. ;)
