How to Make Simple Knit Bunting

It's been a rather busy week here, but I did find a little time for a project. I've been brushing up on my crochet skills and thought to combine a bit of crochet with some tiny knits in the form of sweet little bunting.
You will need:
-Yarn
-Knitting needles of your choosing, smaller are best
-Crochet hook
-Yarn needle
Starting with your first color, cast on 8 stitches (leave enough of a tail on your slipknot to use later for stitching). Complete two full rows of 8 purls. At the start of the third row, pick up your first 2 stitches together and purl , then complete the row normally, thus creating a row of seven purls. Continue in this fashion so that each new row is less one stitch until you are left with a row of a single stitch that you will then cast off with. You will have created a small triangle.
Depending on how long you want your bunting to be you will need to make several of these little triangles in each of your colors. I chose three main colors and made about three triangles in each color, so I had 9 total.
Now you will need to make your chain. I chose to switch from knitting needles to my crochet hook for this. I made a 4' long chain with cream yarn using my hook.

Once you have completed your chain, lay out your little triangles and space evenly along the stretch of chain. (I eyeballed it, you may measure out if necessary).
Using a yarn needle, and the tails you left at the start of each triangle, stitch along the tops into the crochet chain.
Once all of your triangles are attached, you're done! Hang, and enjoy!
I hope you've all had a lovely week, and are staying toasty warm. Happy weekend!

  1. Cute! I was just talking the other day with someone about how it's been too long - years, really - since I knit or crochet anything. I've been feeling the urge to make something with yarn, but I don't know what. I'll probably have to reteach myself first! :)

  2. Love this! I think I'll have to give it a go, and try making this for our (Norway's) national holiday in May :) Thanks for sharing!
