Independence

We had a lovely Fourth of July up at Podunk. My mom made some beautiful decorations, and she and I spent that afternoon shopping for food and preparing the meal. The sun was shining and it turned into a lovely evening. My only regret was that N was unable to be there:( So I took a lot of photos to bring home to share with him.

We ended the night with a campfire and sky lanterns...they were so unbelievably beautiful and magical.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday as well!

  2. Mikki, Podunk is my parents property up in Trumansburg, NY (Former Podunk Ski Shop of my Grandpa Ozzy). If you click on the word "Podunk" in the first line it will link you to my former post about the cottage there:)
Sky lanterns are the paper lanterns that are shown in the last 3 photos. Sky lanterns are airborne paper lanterns, also known as Kongming Lanterns, “wish lanterns”. They are constructed from oiled rice paper on a bamboo
frame, and contain a small fuel cell composed of a waxy flammable material. When lit, the flame heats the air inside the lantern, which causes the lantern to rise into the air and float away...when the lantern is very high in the sky, maybe 5mins after release, it burns itself out and is gone.
    They are very beautiful:)

Thanks! The dress is not vintage but it totally looked like it which is why I had to have it:) A gift from my Mom on our shopping trip up there.
